Selection of Bloodlines: After visiting Australia numerous times with the purpose of evaluating many dogs and bloodlines, I have concentrated the genetics of dogs demonstrating correct working style. Using pedigree information as well as thorough evaluation of individual dogs, each mating is well-planned for maximum outcome. Knowledge of ancestors and their effect on subsequent generations is key. Matings: Each Mating Is Planned Well In Advance Statistical data including Inbreeding Coefficients (IC's) are utilized to assure the most important genetics from each generation. Superior Female Lines are the backbone of the Santolina breeding program. We never mate inferior females to noteworthy males, but always select outstanding working Kelpies from strong female lines. Riana. Arthur Hazlett and his sons Grant and Victor have established and maintained the most consistent type of natural working dog I have ever seen. The dogs have been selected for work and temperament traits that define useful working dogs. My breeding program is built around some of these dogs and their relatives.
