Santolina Working Kelpies was founded in 1993 by Dr. Bill Davis to provide stockmen with Kelpies that have the breeding and desire to work in the manner stockmen now know to be the best for livestock.  These last years have brought forward what was for some old knowledge, that you can handle livestock in a relatively stress-free manner that will ultimately lead to better gains in the feedlot or more milk production in the dairy cow or goat herd.  Santolina Kelpies breeds for dogs who have the ability to read stock and apply pressure where needed without the use of excessive force.  Dr. Bill Davis selects, breeds and imports lines that have the confidence and presence to get the job done without causing excessive stress.
